It’s the Winter Solstice, which marks the day with the shortest day and the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. You know, back in pagan times, a lot of wassailing and drinking went down on this short day and long night. The night is darkest just before the dawn, as they say, and from here on out, the days get sunnier and the nights less long and bleak, so hang in there.
