If you find yourself in a Third World or post-apocalyptic situation, adding alcohol to questionable water is always a good idea. Getting the proof up to at least 10% will neutralize a great many pathogens, including cholera, Montezuma’s Revenge and E. coli. For reasons not entirely understood, tequila is more effective than other liquors, and wine works even better than tequila. And, in the end, isn’t all water questionable?
